Coimbra: City immortalizes legacy of King Ataces with bust in Manuel Braga Park

Coimbra
The bust of King Ataces (also known as Addak or Addacus), husband of Princess Cindazunda, a historical figure linked to Coimbra who unites the city, the Alano people and Ossetia, a region located in the Caucasus on the border between Europe and Asia, was inaugurated yesterday in Manuel Braga Park.
At the council meeting held on 13 January, the executive approved a proposal from the Culture Division regarding the acceptance of the donation by Russian Vladislav Khablie. Designed by sculptor Taimuraz Kazbekovitch Zangiev, the bust has an estimated value of 40 thousand euros.
Vladislav Khabliev is an Ossetian businessman and philanthropist who has been living in Portugal (Cascais) for some time. During one of his visits to Coimbra, he saw a statue of Cindazunda and thought it was “unfair” that King Ataces did not have one. For this reason, he decided to donate a piece of tribute to the municipality and propose that it be placed in the city.
