According to a study by VTsIOM, which RIA Novosti has reviewed, 35% of Russians are confident that their professional skills fully meet the requirements of their current job. At the same time, 10% of respondents noted that their education and qualifications exceed the required level, and 13% do not work in their specialty.
Over the past three years, 27% of respondents have taken refresher courses, while 54% have not undergone professional retraining. The majority (53%) associate their income level with their professional skills, while 18% are sure that earnings do not depend on qualifications.
Half of the respondents consider their skills to be fully in demand at work, 21% - almost fully, and 16% - partially. Experts note a paradox: despite the high demand for specialists, their qualifications are not always reflected in their salary.
According to analysts, the situation is exacerbating social inequality – competencies are more often monetized in large cities, and young people face inflated expectations. At the same time, the economy is increasingly dependent on human capital, but the mechanisms for assessing and rewarding it remain imperfect.
The survey was conducted on April 19, 2025 among 1.6 thousand Russians over 18 years old. The margin of error does not exceed 2.5%.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia, debt collectors began to forgive million-dollar debts more often .
