Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin has been widowed at age 95, his family said.
"Dr. Anka Aldrin, Buzz Aldrin's wife, has passed away," reads a statement posted by the family on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
Aldrin entered into his fourth marriage in 2023: his chosen one is 66-year-old Anka, with whom he had been in a relationship since 2018; she is a doctor of chemical sciences. The astronaut has three children.
As part of Apollo 11, Aldrin became the second person to walk on the Moon. He is now the oldest living person to have been in space.
Previously, the scientist spoke about a human civilization living on the Moon 50,000 years ago.
